Smugglers Notch Resort, or "Smuggs", was ranked the #1 Kid-Friendly Resort in the Eastern U.S. and Canada in the 2015/2016 SKI Magazine resort survey completed by the magazine's readers. This means that there is plenty to do during and after skiing for our 321ski groups.

Three interconnected mountains comprise Smugglers Notch Resort which is northern Vermont's biggest vertical drop at 2,610 feet. Morse Mountain, the beginners' haven, rises directly out of the Resort Village. Sterling Mountain's terrain appeals especially to intermediates, while Madonna Mountain is the expert skiers' mountain.

This resort is the only one on the East Coast to offer a Triple Black Diamond run for the most able pupils and teachers.

For evening activities Smuggs offers a huge indoor games area, tubing, zip lines and a number of further options popular with all Year groups that visit.

Smugglers Notch Resort is exclusve to 321ski.

This year Smuggs has invested over $5 million in snow making facilities, guaranteeing great conditions from the start of season at the end of November through to mid-April. The snowmaking will be extended to 80% of the total ski areas.

For the boarders and more expert pupil skiers the following 'fun' additions are possible:

  • The Jib and Jump Park on the Log Jam Trail on Morse Highlands offers more space for beginner features such as rolls, a table, a box, and a sculpted trail. Perfect for those new to parks and the fun offered in them!
  • Prohibition Park on Madonna Mountain’s intermediate (and aptly named!) Playground trail features rails and jumps for intermediate skiers and riders.
  • Knight's Revenge Gladed Park is located in intermediate glades between Lower Rumrunner and Lower Madonna Liftline. This natural feature park contains log slides, bank turns, rock jumps and more for freestyle excitement for intermediate and advanced winter enthusiasts.
  • Birch Run is 1,000 feet of fun on the lengthened Birch Run trail on Sterling Mountain. This trail is peppered with rails and jumps appealing to mid- to higher level park enthusiasts.
  • The Zone: Located on the Practice Slope on Sterling with the biggest hits and rails for expert riders.
  • School ski trips visit Smuggs from December through to late April. With doorstep skiing and seasons ranging from late October to late April, Smugglers Notch Resort is a popular 321ski choice for our schools at all times of the year.

Accommodation for our school groups are in condos which are slopeside. This means that everything is within walking distance - ideal for safeguarding.
